About Me
Hi there 👋 I’m Ruth, a UX Designer based near Bath, UK.
I have a background studying industrial design at university, working in customer services and market research. Together, these experiences have provided me with an invaluable skills set including communication, teamwork, problem-solving and critical thinking, all of which I can transfer over to UX design. Whether it’s the consumer, customer or user, my studies and job roles have always been focused around them.
User experience design appealed to me for a number of reasons; firstly I am good at problem-solving in my everyday life, so it felt like a well suited career choice where I can hone my skills. Secondly; as digital products and services become more ingrained into our daily lives, it’s crucial that we create easy to use, frictionless solutions - UX Academy has provided me with the skills to do this.
Studying industrial design gave me my foundation in understanding human-centred design, creating concepts and iterating on ideas to solutions for the end user. Now I see UX as the next step forward where I can up-skill, gain further knowledge of the design thinking process and apply it to both digital and physical products.
One year from now, I aim to be working within a collaborative, team based environment which may be part of either an agency or an organisation. I hope my new job role will give me with the opportunity for career growth and to progress to either a mid or senior designer.
In my free time I enjoy being outdoors, photography, gardening, running, or travelling.
